 Kannada in varsity administration compulsory

“ಆಡಳಿತ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲೇ ಆಗಬೇಕು”

MYSORE Oct 21: In a tough stand, Chairman of Kannada Development Authority on Friday said the varsities in the State would face serious consequences for lapses in Kannada implementation in administrative affairs.

Speaking after releasing the Kannada-English Dictionary brought out by the University of Mysore at the Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, he said all universities were bound to conduct their administration and official correspondence in Kannada. It will apply to all departments, he added.

“The authority will have to act against the universities which show reluctance or apathy towards implementation,” he said and added that the University of Mysore could be a model for other varsities in implementing Kannada in administrative affairs.

  1. Dear Friends,
I am working in an Educational institution which is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University. In this university except for the holiday list which is sent once in a year all other circulars and notices are sent to the colleges in English. This is a major univesity in Karnataka to which most of all Engineering colleges in Bangalore are affiliated to. If we could bring some pressure on this university and make the university authorities to send all correspondances in Kannada and in turn if the university advices all the colleges to send their letters to the university in Kannada then it would be a real achievement. Please note that the Registrar, Vice chancellor and most of the people in this university who are at the helm of affairs are either a Telugu or a Tamilian. One more thing I would like to bring to the notice of all kannadigas is that in most private colleges of Bangalore the faculty are Tamilians. If the HOD is a Tamilian or a Telugu he is bound to appoint or recommend a tamilian for the faculty job. I am at present seeing the same situation in my institution where I work. All this can be controlled by the university. so I request all kannadigas to think seriously in this regard and do something. Please note that if kannada is made 100% compulsory in educational institutions then there will be a revolutionary change in usage of kannada in all other departments also.
