Suvarna Kannada Rajyotsava…Public

The government of Karnataka had organised a colourful event to mark the beginning of the celebrations of “Suvarna Karnataka Year” on November 1st 2006 at Sri Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru…

Fresh coloured spirit for the day…

At home… The yellow and red flowers marking the celebration of the day…

Yet to be unfurled…

The majestic wave… Ondhe, ondhe, ondhe Karnataka ondhe…

Erisi, Haarisi, Kannadadha Bhaavuta… Kannada Bhaavuta on our roof top…

With the custom-designed T-shirt…

T-shirt with Karnataka Tourism logo on the chest… Suvarna Karnataka logo at the back…

Sharp 05:00 pm… Helicopters shower yellow and red petals all over the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the venue of this festive event…

The very next moment after this aerial feat, there came our first guest – Rain God… The fresh showers of yellow and red petals were in no time replaced with fresh water droplets…

It rained for almost half an hour… The entire crowd exhibited a team-effort with their prayers for rain to stop…

Even a one day cricket match here hadn’t ever pulled such a huge crowd… The voice of Kannada Dindima had reached the sky… Probably, that’s why it rained so heavily…

The stage for the event inspired and depicting the Hoysala architecture…

Around 500 performers from Dakshina Kannada exhibited their culture in their own style… Yakshagana, the pride that rules…

Sri H D Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister of our Suvarna Karnataka lights the Kannada Jyoti… The whole stadium echoed with the greatest inspirer ever – “Hachchevu Kannadadha Deepa” song…

A record 3,700 people ( involving Students, Folk artists ) performed all together for the song with lamps on their palms… What a sight…!

Hoththitho Hoththitho Kannadadha Deepa…

Yet another shot of the troupe performing for the Rashtra Kavi Kuvempu’s contribution…

Another record number of people tapped their feet for the scintillating song – “Elladharu Iru Enthaadharu Iru” with the voice of none other than the virtuous spirit of Karnataka – Dr. Rajkumar…

Red, Yellow, White, Pink, Violet… The pupils were dressed so colourfully depicting the richness of this colourful state.

Wish we had our legend Dr. Raj lending his voice live for this song… What a way would have that been to begin the “Suvarna Habba” celebrations… We miss him… Truly…

The last song performance for a great beginning… Again with the joyful voice of Dr. Raj… Film folks led by the thespian’s son, Shivaraj Kumar joined this huge troupe exhibited their spirits.

Special Silk Dress for Vishaka on this festive day…

Vijay with Vishaka, at home…
